When I built my LXMini's I used a MiniDSP SHD as a signal processor and media streamer to play music via Roon. It's worked very well and sounds great, but I've always worried that the Digital Signal Processing might get corrupted or the wrong program might be selected and the my speakers would be damaged.
With the build of my LX521's I wanted a safer option, with a manual volume knob so I don't need to worry about those expensive drivers getting full volume (even more of a concern with my new Hypex amplifiers that have over 400 watts per channel).
